Take the booking calls you miss during service

Marisa answers your phone while your team is on the floor. It takes booking requests and takeaway orders, answers questions about hours and BYO, and writes allergies down for the kitchen.

Booking requests are confirmed by your team in your own reservation system, unless your calendar is connected.

The problem

Where restaurant calls go missing

An unanswered booking call is usually a table booked somewhere else.

  • Friday and Saturday service, when every hand is full
  • Same-day cancellations nobody hears in time to fill the table
  • Function and group enquiries that ring out and never call back
  • Guests who prefer to ring rather than book online

What Marisa handles

What Marisa handles during service

  • Booking requests with date, time, guests and notes
  • Same-day changes and cancellations, marked urgent
  • Takeaway and pick-up orders, read back item by item
  • Hours, kitchen close, parking, BYO, corkage and cakeage questions
  • Allergies and dietary needs written down for the kitchen
  • Function, group and set menu enquiries for your events person

How restaurants use Marisa

Service-time overflow

Divert calls during dinner service. Booking requests are logged for your team to confirm in your reservation system.

Functions and Christmas parties

Group enquiries are captured with date, numbers, menu style and budget, and flagged for a same-day call back.

After close

Late callers leave a full booking request, not a half-heard voicemail.

When it is urgent

When a call cannot wait

Pick what the caller says to see what Marisa does with it.

When the caller says

Marks the change urgent and takes the name and booking time, so the table can be offered to someone else

Urgent

Notes the new arrival time on the booking and marks it urgent for today

Urgent

Takes the request with the time and numbers and marks it urgent, because a same-night group needs an answer tonight, not tomorrow

Urgent

Takes the date, numbers, menu style and budget, and marks it urgent as a function enquiry for your events person to ring back

Urgent

Writes the allergy down word for word, never says a dish is safe, and marks it for a kitchen call back

Takes the details calmly, does not argue or admit fault, and marks the call urgent for the manager

Urgent

Is set up to tell the caller to ring 000 straight away, and does not try to help with the emergency

Answers from the details you give it, so nobody has to leave the floor

What Marisa will not do

  • Marisa never tells a guest a dish is safe for an allergy.
  • It does not take card numbers or deposits.
  • It does not promise a table it cannot see in your calendar.
  • It does not agree to menu changes or discounts.

  1. MarisaThanks for calling Example Trattoria. You are speaking with Marisa, the restaurant's AI receptionist. The team is busy with dinner service, so I will take this for them. What can I do for you?

  11. MarisaLovely. Inside or outside, if you have a preference?
  12. CallerInside, please. It gets cold.
  13. MarisaI have noted inside as a request. The team will call you to confirm the table. What is the best number for you?

Restaurant answering service FAQs

Does it work with my reservation system?

Marisa can book directly into Google Calendar, Outlook, Calendly, Cal.com or GoHighLevel. If you use another reservation platform, it takes a booking request for your team to confirm.

Will Marisa tell a guest a dish is safe?

No. It writes the allergy down word for word and tells the guest the kitchen will confirm. If someone is having a reaction, it tells them to ring 000.

Can it take takeaway orders?

Yes. It takes each item, reads the order back and logs a pick-up time. It does not take payment or connect to your point of sale.

Can it answer questions about BYO and corkage?

Yes, from the details you give it. Anything it does not know is taken down for your team.

Will it double book us?

It only books into times your connected calendar shows as free. Otherwise it takes a request, so your team stays in control.

Will guests know they are talking to AI?

Yes. Our Acceptable Use Policy requires every agent to say it is AI at the start of every call and to tell callers when calls are recorded, so Marisa opens every call by saying it is the venue's AI receptionist.

Let your team run the floor. Marisa will take the phone.
