The problem

Where electrical calls go missing

A customer without power will not wait for tomorrow's call back.

  • Both hands are in a switchboard when the phone buzzes
  • You are feeding cable through a roof space and cannot answer
  • A Friday evening trip-out lands just as you are packing up
  • Someone in a dark kitchen rings the next electrician on Google

What Brendan handles

What Brendan does on every electrical call

  • Power faults: no power, circuits out, a switch that keeps tripping
  • Safety calls: burning smells, heat, buzzing or sparks, marked urgent
  • Everyday work: power points, downlights, ceiling fans and smoke alarms
  • Quotes: switchboard upgrades, EV chargers and new home fit-offs
  • Rentals and builders: property managers, landlords and builders
  • Chasers: "When is the electrician coming?" logged as a call back

What Brendan will not do

  • Brendan does not price a job you have not seen.
  • Brendan never tells callers how to fix, reset or open up anything electrical.
  • Brendan does not claim to be a licensed electrician or confirm compliance certificates.
  • Brendan never commits you to an arrival time you have not set.

  1. BrendanThanks for calling Brightline Electrical. You are speaking with Brendan, the AI receptionist. The electricians are out on jobs, so I will take the details and get this to them. What is happening?
  2. CallerHalf the house has lost power and the safety switch keeps tripping.
  3. BrendanSorry to hear that. First, can you smell burning, or see any smoke or sparks near the switchboard or a power point?
  4. CallerNo, nothing like that.
  5. BrendanGood. Please do not open the switchboard or touch any wiring. Do your neighbours still have power?
  6. CallerYes, next door has lights on.
  7. BrendanThanks, I will note that. Has anyone tried the safety switch again, and does it stay on?
  8. CallerI pushed it back up and it went straight off again. The kitchen and the back rooms are out.
  9. BrendanIs there anything that needs power tonight, like medical equipment, or medicine in the fridge?
  10. CallerThe fridge is on that side. There is insulin in it.
  11. BrendanUnderstood. I am marking this urgent and noting the insulin. What suburb are you in, and what is the street?
  12. CallerKedron. Leckie Road.
  13. BrendanWhere is the switchboard, and will someone be home to let the electrician in?
  14. CallerIt is on the side of the house. I am home all night.
  15. BrendanDo you own the house, or are you renting?
  16. CallerWe rent.
  17. BrendanThanks. The electrician will call you back on this number about the call-out fee and when they can get there. Is this the best number for you?
  18. CallerYes, that is my mobile.

Electrician answering service FAQs

Will my customers know they are talking to AI?

Yes. Our Acceptable Use Policy requires every agent to say it is AI at the start of every call and to tell callers when calls are recorded, so Brendan opens every call by saying it is the electrical contractor's AI receptionist.

What happens if there is smoke, a fire or someone gets a shock?

Brendan is not an emergency service. It is set up to tell the caller to ring 000, and for a fallen power line to stay well clear and ring 000 or the faults line for their area. It may not recognise every emergency, so keep 000 on your website too.

What if the whole street is out?

Brendan asks whether the neighbours have power. If not, it is set up to point the caller to the local faults line, and still takes the details for you to read.

Can it tell callers my call-out fee?

Yes, if you give it the figures. Brendan tells callers your call-out fee and after-hours rate, and says the electrician prices the job on site.

Does it work with my job management software?

Brendan books into Google Calendar, Outlook, Calendly, Cal.com or GoHighLevel, and can send every call result to your CRM by webhook. On different job software? Book a demo, tell us which one, and we will tell you what connects today.
