The problem
Where maintenance calls go missing
A homeowner left waiting rings the next handyman, who then gets the work.
- You are halfway up a ladder with a drill when the phone goes
- You mean to ring back at lunch, then the job runs over
- A fence quote sits in missed calls behind a property manager ringing twice
- Tenant, agent and landlord all ring about one job, and nobody notes the keys
What Darcy handles
What Darcy does on every maintenance call
- Quotes: fences, decking, pergolas, carports, gutters and small job lists
- Work orders: agency and strata jobs, with the number and tenant contact
- Tenants and landlords: rental calls logged with the managing agency
- Urgent jobs: doors that will not lock, broken glass, storm damage
- Status calls: "When are you coming?" taken as a call back
- Web quote requests: called back with your questions

How handymen use Darcy

Urgent repairs
Doors that will not lock, broken glass and storm damage arrive marked urgent.
Outbound calls need consent and a Do Not Call Register wash. See our Campaign and Batch Calling Terms.

Safety first
What Darcy will not do
- Darcy does not price a job before you have seen it or the photos.
- Darcy never approves work for a landlord or agency.
- Darcy never tells a caller whether work needs a licence.

- DarcyThanks, Priya. Is the property secure tonight, or is anyone staying there with the door unlocked?

- CallerUp to five hundred dollars. Anything more, call me first.
- DarcyAnd for access, should the team call the tenant directly?

- DarcyThanks, Priya. I have marked this as urgent for the team, with the work order and Sam's details. They will call you back on this number. Is this the best number for you?

Handyman answering service FAQs
Will my customers know they are talking to AI?
Yes. Our Acceptable Use Policy requires every agent to say it is AI at the start of every call and to tell callers when calls are recorded, so Darcy opens every call by saying it is the maintenance business's AI receptionist.
Can it take work orders from real estate agencies?
Yes. Darcy takes the agency, work order number, approval limit and access. It does not approve work on anyone's behalf.
What if a tenant rings about a job the agency has not approved?
Darcy takes the job with the tenant's details and agency, and marks it waiting on approval in the call summary. You set what tenants are told.
Can it give a price over the phone?
Not for a job you have not seen. Darcy can give your call-out fee, minimum charge and hourly rate if you add them, and asks whether the caller can email photos.
What about gas, electrical or plumbing work?
Darcy notes when a job sounds like electrical, gas or plumbing work, so you can refer it on. It never says whether a job needs a licence. For gas or sparks, it is set up to tell callers to leave and ring the faults line, or 000.
Does it work with my job software?
Darcy books quote visits into Google Calendar, Outlook, Calendly, Cal.com or GoHighLevel, and can send each call result to your CRM or job software by webhook. Using something else? Book a demo and we will check what connects with your job software.
Stay up the ladder. Darcy will take the call.
